Welcome. I'm a photographer from Ashland, Ky., whose day job is creative services manager for an area hospital. Thought I'd create this to share some thoughts and photos. Hope you enjoy.

Sunset reflection
This was taken with my Fuji F10 sitting on top of my dad's blue truck, and zoomed out so it caught the sunset reflection.

Another Christmas Shot
I stole the idea for this from someone's Flickr post, and this was my first attempt to recreate it. I started to not post this version, because there are a couple of things I would like to change about the photo, and I plan to reshoot another version sometime soon.
I used two flashes to light this photo, one as a background light turned down really low and gelled blue. The second is a SB-800 placed inside the book with an orange gel and dialed down to 1/64 power.

Graveyard
I passed this place along U.S. 23 near South Shore, Ky., and thought it looked neat. I actually had some time, so I stopped and snapped a few quick photos, and did a lot of post work on it. I shot it as a RAW file, then exported two versions, one at normal exposure, and one very dark to get the ominous clouds in the sky. I merged them with Photomatrix to get the final effect.

Horizontal Blinds
This photo started as just a shot of the blinds in our office with light peeking through the little holes in them. I started playing with it in Photoshop, rotated it about 40-degrees, changed the color balance to get an orange color from the light, and really bumped up the contrast and black values, and thought it made for an interesting shot.

Carter Caves
One of the natural bridges at Carter Caves State Park near Olive Hill, Ky. I don't know why we don't go there more, it's a really cool place about 20 minutes away from our house. It was a beautiful day here, sunny and in the mid-70s, so we went there with the kids thinking we may not get many more days like that before it turns cold.
One thing I like about this photo are the two people in the lower-right hand portion that gives you some idea of the scale of this place (click on the photo for a larger view).

Scenes from the Roof
We climbed up on the roof of our office building today (it's only five stories) but I grabbed some shots of Ashland's Central Park, and some of the downtown buildings. The last shot is Ashland's Sky Tower. At 12 stories, it's the tallest building in town, and once housed Ashland Oil offices, but as you can tell, it's still not that tall.

Carter County Corn Maze
We went to the corn maze at the Carter County Fairgrounds today, and I have to say I was very impressed. It's a huge maze that takes about 45 minutes to walk through.
Here's an aerial view of the corn maze that's on the fairgrounds webste.

Oops!
One of my favorite blogs to look at occasionally is Photoshop Disasters where people submit goof ups they've seen from others using the imaging software. We got a new memory card for our camera at work the other day, and I noticed this one immediately ... notice anything off with the reflection of the card?

My Family
My wife needed a professional portrait for her new job, so while we had all the equipment out, we grabbed a few family shots today. Since I'm usually behind the camera, I don't appear in many of our photos, so Lisa snapped a shot of me with the kids, and I have to say, I like being behind the camera much better than in front of it.
